Better taste for a healthier planet.

Better taste for a healthier planet.

Traditional spray dry encapsulation technology requires high temperatures (180–200° Celsius) to evaporate large quantities of water. By reducing the heat, Zooming is a game-changer that uses as much as 50% less water and energy to encapsulate flavors while maintaining the aroma and taste of the active ingredients. Our eco-friendly approach offers an innovative and better-tasting solution and a healthier planet.

We built sustainability into our process from the beginning. It’s how we do what we do, and we have the patents, methods, and products to demonstrate how being green creates superior tasting flavors!

ZoomEssence began with the invention of Zooming, a sustainable technology designed to remove the high heat from antiquated spray-drying techniques invented in 1872. Surprisingly the process hadn’t changed from the horse and buggy days when “smokestack” manufacturing littered the landscape after the industrial revolution.

Traditional spray dry encapsulation technology requires high temperatures (180–200° Celsius) to evaporate large quantities of water. The impact of both the increased energy demand and the evaporation of key flavor actives yields a product with poor sensory performance and significant environmental impact. Our game-changing innovation uses 50% less energy and water while dramatically enhancing the aroma, taste, and performance of flavor.

But more importantly, sustainability was a driver in the creation of ZoomEssence. Sustainability grants and awards funded our early efforts. And today, we continue to perfect the process of LESS IS MORE. With 11 patents and counting, clean and green manufacturing is part of our DNA.

From natural essences to any flavor you can imagine, ZoomEssence’s eco-friendly flavors offer an innovative and better-tasting solution to a healthier planet. Using less energy and water is just the beginning. You’ll also use less of the product, which decreases waste in packaging and shipping. ZoomEssence flavors also have a longer shelf life, so less is wasted period.

At every step of the supply chain from manufacture to transport to the shelf to home, less equals more with ZoomEssence. ZoomEssence is not just born sustainable; we are sustainable from start to finish. We are sustainable for life.

Key Sustainability Features of Zooming

Key Sustainability
Features of Zooming

Sustainable Process: 50% Less Water & Energy Usage

Zooming uses high solids formulations and atomization technology to significantly reduce water usage. Low temperature coupled with less water to evaporate equals less energy required in manufacturing.

Less Is More: Efficient Encapsulation of Flavor Actives

The Zooming process highly concentrates flavors that reduce application use flavor rates by 40% or more vs typical spray dry flavors. More robust flavors mean we need to make less. Zooming Flavors are the total package, cost-effective and sustainable.

Cleaner Process Reduces Emission of Volatiles

Less water, heat, and energy results in encapsulating up to 100% of the active ingredients reducing the emission of volatiles
during manufacturing.

Reduced Shipping Handling and Transport Costs

Zooming Encapsulated Flavors can be shipped without the hazardous designation that is required for liquid flavors. Shipments
are lighter and easier to handle in your manufacturing.

More Retention of Flavors

Zooming low-temperature process minimizes and in some cases eliminates the need for added diluents or solvents. The ability to capture and retain highly volatile materials in our flavor encapsulations means significantly improved taste and aroma.

Core Commitment

Sustainability was built into our process from the beginning. It is how we do what we do and we have the patents, methods, and products to demonstrate how being green CREATES superior tasting flavors.

We are the proud recipient of research awards and grants for innovation and sustainability from the Department of Energy, The National Science Foundation, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, PSE&G, and the Kentucky Office of Entrepreneurship. We are proud to say sustainability is in our DNA. To date, we have been awarded eleven (11) Patents for our energy-saving innovative low-temperature drying technology, the technology is so radically different than spray drying we gave it a new name—Zooming.
